Tip for Fall Season

Focus on checking and repairing home wiring, overhead power line awareness when cleaning gutters and trimming trees, and proper use of space heaters and electric blankets.

Do you need a home safety inspection?

Did you know that every year, an average of 40,400 house fires and 329 deaths are caused by faulty home wiring, extension cords, lighting and plugs?  Make sure you aren't in danger of this by answering these simple questions:

  • Is your home 20 years old or older?
  • Has your home had a major addition or renovation or major new appliance added, such as a refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner, or electric furnace, in the last 10 years?
  • Are you the new owner of a previously owned home?
  • Do your lights often flicker or dim momentarily?
  • Do your circuit breakers trip or fuses blow often?
  • Are your outlet and light switch face plates hot to the touch or discolored?
  • Do you hear crackling, sizzling, or buzzing from your outlets?
  • Do you have extension cords and multiple power strips permanently in use around the house?

If you said yes to any of these you should seriously think about getting a home inspection by a qualified, licensed electrician. A basic inspection takes usually between 30 minutes to an hour depending on the size of the home.
